The Lakers currently have the most star-studded roster in the NBA, and rightfully so. The Lakers are home to Los Angeles where stars are born. So it does not come as a surprise when the leading NBA franchise has also become home to the stars.

The beginnings of the Lakers as a powerhouse team were quite rough, yet promising. The rivalry they had with the Boston elevated the league into new heights at the time. The reason for this is because of Jerry West and Elgin Baylor, two Hall of Famers. These stars led the fights against Boston in the 60s where they eventually fell short every time. Then came the acquisition of the great Wilt Chamberlain, who helped them win their sixth NBA title. After the retirement of Chamberlain and West, the organizations sought to invest towards new talent, which came in the form of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. With the help of Kareem and the later addition of Magic Johnson, the Lakers began their Showtime era. The Showtime era was more than just flashy moves because this was also the time when the Magic and Bird rivalry took place. This helped elevate the status of both franchises. Then came the 90s, which were admittedly a tough time for the Lakers. But then came the rebirth in the form of the league’s best and deadliest duo, Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant. The two came into star-studded Hollywood and made the already famous Showtime Lakers into a dominating basketball organization. Later on in Kobe’s career, he found another championship partner in Pau Gasol which led to more championships for the franchise.

With Lebron James now the helm of the team, who knows what lies ahead for the Los Angeles Lakers. But if you’re going to ask any Laker fan, they believe the future has rings and championships for the Lakers. But apart from the legacy and the star-studded roster of the favorite Staples Center team, the Lakers is more than just an organization. It serves as a family.
